So what’s the plan?

I intend to make a game, just as the main website has been implying I shall do for the last two years. The two barriers to accomplishing that in a timely manner have been academic distractions and overambition. The academic distractions are now over with and I’m waiting for my diploma. So now I just have the overambition to deal with.

I’ve planned out a concept called Proof of Valour that dials that back somewhat. It’s a simple strategy game inspired by chess that will most likely be released (at least at first) as an ad-supported download on smartphones. It may not be very impressive. Even so, consider it proof of not only valour, but my ability to actually create games. I could qualify that with “for a living,” but I fear an ad-supported game for phones will provide little evidence of that.

Some overambition may remain in that I plan to do all of the art myself, since my last attempt at teaching myself 3D modeling was derailed by causes other than my lack of success. I’ve begun work on a base mesh which should be usable for most of the characters, but going is slow, since I didn’t really want to get started on the sculpting before I head out of state for a week tomorrow. I could include a picture, perhaps, but it would be rather unimpressive and I need to adjust the proportions- realistic ones probably aren’t the best option for a game like this.

Look forward to a more impressive status update (with pictures) at the end of the month or so.
